 | Mt Unzen - Decade
Volcano Geologic History,
1990-1995 Chronology of Activity, Scientific Work,
References and Images. Dome growth had continued since
May 1991 and dome-collapse pyroclastic flows had occurred
frequently; total amount of lava erupted reached
approximately 0.2 km^3, while around ten thousand
pyroclastic flows were counted. Japanese scientists kept
closely monitoring Unzen as a candidate for long-lived
dome growth.

project Stromboli volcano,
one of the Aeolian islands, located north of Sicily,
presents a permanent activity which has been reported for
thousands of years. This activity results, from the
seismic point of view, in a considerable number of
explosion-quakes (several per hour) and in a persistent
volcanic tremor.
